What we did on our 2006 holidays

Our main holiday saw us trying something different. We hired a canal boat on the Grand Union and River Soar navigation, cruising the Market Harborough arm and up as far as Birstall lock. Activities were obviously centred around the canal for the first week, with a selection of days out in week two: Leicester Roman Wall & Museum, Great Central Railway, Indian Meal in Leicester (very good!), Foxton Incline and Museum, Milestones Museum at Basingstoke, Hayling Island with Haakon & Ollie, Mid-Hants Railway, Norfolk & Suffolk Aero Museum, The London Dungeon, Shuttleworth Trust at Old Warden and the Epping & Ongar Railway.
